After a career in broadcast journalism that spanned the better part of three decades, David returned to his beloved hometown of Chicago. It was there that he became intrigued with the planned construction, of the massive Obama Presidential Center project.

The chosen site was only a stone’s throw from where he had settled in Hyde Park. Anticipating, what was bound to be a robust future demand for high-quality commemorative items… he set out to create a line of distinctive keepsake products.

The items would all be based on a seal of his own copyrighted design. It would be comprised of 3 basic elements… an iconic contemporary likeness of the former President, amid a field of 50-stars. The seal’s perimeter was then topped off in bold text… Obama Presidential Center-Chicago, Illinois.

The visual impact of the seal spoke volumes.The decision was made to display the design, on what later became an extensive line of commemorative keepsake product… The Geddsin Collection. He would later reveal that the name Geddsin, was an anagram tribute to his mother, derived from her maiden name, Eddings. The project was the culmination of nearly three years of research and development.

But it wasn’t until he received direct feedback from church and civic focus groups, that he was finally ready to declare mission accomplished.
It signaled that the public was poised to embrace his dream, inspired by the yet to be built, Obama Presidential Center.
